The Park Community Chest awards small grants of up to £2,000 and combines them with crowdsourced skills, talents, and expertise from our brilliant network to support grassroots community initiatives.
This year, we’ll work with each successful project over a 12-month period to develop their strategy, capacity, and networks and kickstart thriving, sustainable projects that have a lasting local impact.
If you run a project yourself or have a great idea for an initiative to benefit your local community, you can apply – applications are now open!
Why are we doing this?
The Echo community is a really powerful tool for social change.
We’re lucky to have 5,000 members from all walks of life and professional backgrounds. Collectively the knowledge, expertise and countless skills you all have are incredibly valuable to people launching grassroots community projects.
Last year, we tested if our time currency could be used to mobilise our wonderful community and incentivise them to share their talents to support new community projects.
Thankfully, it worked really well and we successfully supported 5 inspiring East London projects (ranging from a youth basketball team to computer classes for senior citizens) crowdsourcing 270+ hours of skills and expertise from you guys which benefited more than 300 East London local people.
This year, we want to take it a step further and discover what happens if you combine grant funding with Echo’s time currency and access to the Echo network.
Join us on the journey, as we find out!
Combining resources to supercharge impact
By pooling cash grants from our Park partners, Triathlon Homes, Lendlease and LLDC, and combining them with Echo’s unique wraparound support, we’ve created a first-of-its-kind approach to grant distribution that maximises community impact across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding areas.
We are keen to hear from a wide range of people and organisations with ideas and initiatives doing all kinds of different things. Even if the project is in its early stages, we’d still love to hear about it because we know Echo community can really help these projects find their feet, and go on to do great things.
Can I help the projects once they’ve been selected?
Yes, the Park Community Chest needs you!
There will be lots of ways to get involved and earn Echoes over the next 12-months, once the successful projects have been selected. You can then spend these on the skills and services you need for your own projects.
Last year’s projects needed a whole range of help from graphic design to web design, copywriting to coaching, and everything in between.
Also, if you know of any community projects that match the criteria, we’ll reward your referral with a few Echoes to say thank you!
